Acting Workshop with Casting Director Gemma Sykes

The workshop with Gemma Sykes was absolutely brilliant. I learnt so much about the industry. It has got me really ready to do more acting workshops in January 2014 and be ready for more castings and filming in the new year. Thank you Gemma Sykes for a great workshop :)

Workshop and Filming before Christmas

I am excited for the Acting workshop I will be attending on Saturday :) I have been preparing for it and it is going to be great to meet other people in the industry. I have also been preparing for a role that I will be filming for in January 2014.

Audition

Had a great audition yesterday, it was brilliant because I got to meet loads of different people and also bumped into a familiar face!

Hair shoot

I had such a great day doing a hair shoot. It was great getting my hair done by the lovely Charlotte.
The shoot was brilliant and I met loads of really lovely people, cant wait to see the results :)

Eva De Vita

I have been filming for Eva De Vita this weekend and it has been such an amazing experience, working with great people and going to brilliant locations.

I am playing Eva,which I am very excited about, she is such an interesting character. I cannot wait to see the footage :)

I am filming a commercial today and am very excited to meet some friends I know from working on other projects together. :) 

I also have filming this weekend which is going to be amazing!

MOON FEST UK 2013

Moon Fest UK 2013 in Chinatown, London was INCREDIBLE. I had such a great time hosting the show with my brilliant co- host Bruce Chong. It was so great to meet and work with such amazing performers, crew and celebrate a great Chinese tradition. Even though the weather was not the best, it didn't matter because everyone's spirits were high and a bit of rain was never going to stop us. The London Chinatown Chinese Association will be hosting a special Stage Show on Sunday 15th September to celebrate the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival 'MOON FEST UK'. Everyone from the community will be welcomed to join the performance on stage and showcase the best new talents in London Chinatown. I will be officially hosting the event with the amazing Bruce Chong and we both cordially invite you all to enjoy the festival from 1pm - 9pm with live marital arts, dance, Canto pop performances and chances to win prizes. My workshop with Mel Churcher was incredible and so insightful.
During the workshop we worked on different pieces and I had a monologue prepared. When performing it to Mel it was amazing how she knew when my control was not switched off and knew that I was thinking too much.
She thought me to just relax and keep calm; there is no need to rush or think too much. The thinking should be done in the preparation and in learning lines. After having this prep and practice, as an actor I should trust that base I have build in me and let it flow.
I learnt so much in that session and I am so happy to have worked with such a lovely, brilliant and talented acting/ voice coach.

MOON CAKE FEST :)

'Moon Cake Fest',which is traditionally known as Mid- Autumn Festival 中秋节 is coming soon, and I am lucky enough to be co-presenting it with the wonderful Actor and Presenter Bruce Chong.

We will be presenting this event on the 15th September 2013 in Chinatown, London.
Come on down and celebrate this great event with us. There will be food, entertainment, prizes, lanterns and much more.

This is a great event for all the family and friends and learn all about this great festival.

WORKSHOPS, DANCE CLASSES AND MORE :)

Have a busy week this week and next.
Went for a meeting last night and some exciting things are planned for the future.
I am hoping to go to an acting workshop next week and start up with going to dance classes in London soon, which will be amazing!
I have shooting this Sunday for the film 'The Fighting Spirit', which I play Lady Lynn. She's a great part to play.

Great things planned for the future :)

BRISTOL OLD VIC THEATRE SCHOOL

I have finished my intensive course at Bristol Old Vic and it was just wonderful to have the opportunity to attend this great theatre school and have brilliant tutors to guide you along the way.

We have received new showreel material (which will be up soon) from the course and I have had some amazing experience both in front and behind the camera.

This was really my first time sitting behind the camera and seeing the action being played out on a monitor. It was so interesting to see the difference of being in front of the camera and watching it as it would be played out on screen.
Seeing it from a directors point of view clarifies why we have to stand in a certain way, or move a prop that looks wrong in shot or walk in a certain direction. The view we get from the screen is very different to the set and scene we see without a lens. For example, while sitting next to a friend in real life there is a known space between each other, we do not intrude this personal space. However, when acting if we sat next to each other as we would in real life; on the screen it looks as if we are distant and the gap in between us seems so vast. That is why, the director constantly tells us to sit closer or be closer together, so that on screen we look as if we actually like each other.
We have to get use to being close around each other and invading each other's personal space.

All in all the course was great and I made some lovely friends. They are all so very talented and creative.
I have learnt such an incredible amount and I shall be putting it all into practice.

I really enjoyed my time there.

NYC

So I have been away for a while!
I went to NYC and it was completely amazing, I loved it so much.
While I was there I was lucky enough to attend a class at Broadway Dance Centre taught by Cecilia Martha.
It was so nice to back dancing and attending classes. The class was great, I learnt so much in just an 1hr 30mins. I decided while away I will be attending more dance classes and acting workshops when I was back in the UK.

The Amazing Mel Churcher

I have just finished reading the brilliant book by Mel Churcher: A Screen Acting Workshop and it has great exercises and tips for an actor to do when preparing for an audition, or even to go on set.

There was a whole range of things that I had not thought about before, for example, engaging the whole body, the voice, being aware of your stance. It breaks everything down so you don't have to be nervous about how you should say a certain line and encourages you to find a unique point in yourself and use it to your advantage when on screen.

I would love to go on a workshop with Mel Churcher; this book has really thought me a great deal about my craft and I have loved every minute of reading it.

It's been an incredible read, for preparing for my course that I will be going on soon, at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

What an event, what a game!!!!!

I played in The BIG MATCH and it was a brilliant day. I missed it on Sky but I have had it recorded, so I cannot wait to get it on and watch the highlights of the match.
Apparently, my attempt of heading the ball was shown , can't wait to see what that was like!
Again, what an event, what a game, what a day :)

The Great Gatsby/ The Wolf of Wall Street

Finally, I am going to get to watch The Great Gatsby tonight on the BIG Screen. I absolutely love Baz Luhrmann as a director; I love all the colours in his films; the theatrical and dramatic acting, yet there is such realness to it. It really connects with me as an audience member.
Of course, there is the very talented Mr DiCaprio featured in the film, who has also worked with Baz Luhrmann before in the fantastic Romeo + Juliet along with Claire Danes.

I have always been a fan of DiCaprio, I feel as though he captures each moment within the character and scenario beautifully. He really brings the characters he plays to life. I would love to know the process DiCaprio goes through, from the script to getting into the character on set.
For Gatsby; DiCaprio said he read and re-read the novel by the American author F.Scott Fitzgerald. To study not just the character but the scene and the atmosphere.

I am really looking forward to see the no doubt theatrical performances by the actor/actresses and by the set itself tonight. Furthermore, while looking at some Gatsby clips, I came across The Wolf of Wall Street; directed by the wonderful Martin Scorsese, that is definitely another MUST SEE. THE BIG MATCH 2013

What an inspiring event and for such great causes: Action for Children and Brain Tumour Charity. Met some incredible people and also played some football at the Madejski Stadium; running from the half way line to the goal is really hard; I only ran for 20 mins each half... imagine 90mins! I played for the Action for Children side, which won! WOOHOOO The whole event raised £50,000. All for a good cause.

EXCITING NEWS

Very exciting news.... I have been accepted onto a short course at Bristol Old Vic. I am very excited to get started and learn more about my craft. :)

Also Miracle Grow's Lead actress Natalie Martins won Best actress at the London Independent Film Festival 2013. What a lovely and beautiful actress and so deserving of it too.

WHAT A NIGHT.....

The London independent film festival was AMAZING! Great to see all the cast and crew! Looking forward to the DVD   :)

My first ever feature film MIRACLE GROW  has been selected at the London Independent Film Festival 2013. It will be showing on the 13th April 2013 at 9.30pm. This is such exciting news and I am so happy to be a part of it all.
